CEOS Students Begin Poster and Video Presentation Phase
CEOS Students Begin Poster and Video Presentation Phase
Our CEOS Club students recently gathered for another milestone in this year’s CEOS
Youth Initiative activities. During the meeting, students received their official
Certificates of Participation for taking part in the international CEOS webinars held
earlier this year.
The webinars introduced students to how Earth observation satellites are used to
monitor global challenges such as wildfires and water quality, while also giving them
opportunities to collaborate with students from around the world.
Reflecting on the experience, one student commented:
“It was a great opportunity to discuss satellite observations with students across the
world through CEOS.”
Another student shared:
“I learned that satellites have a high potential for solving environmental problems, and
that science has infinite possibility.”
During the meeting, students also watched several poster presentations created by last
year’s CEOS participants, many of whom have now graduated. Inspired by the work of
the previous team, this year’s students are now beginning the next stage of the project:
creating their own video presentations for the CEOS Youth Initiative challenge.
Students formed pairs based on shared interests and selected topics of their own choice,
ranging from environmental monitoring to satellite applications for global sustainability
challenges. Their final video poster presentations will be submitted as part of the
international CEOS Youth Initiative and showcased during the CEOS Youth Summit in
Hobart, Australia in November 2026.
Through this continuing project, students are not only learning about satellite science
and remote sensing, but also developing the ability to communicate scientific ideas to
an international audience.
